  • Some people blindly get upset by taunts and don't know the difference between disrespectful or arrogance taunts and friendly taunts. Personally if I get diss taunted I diss taunt right back, much more reasonable than SDing in my opinion.

  • but i only disrespect my opponent if they disrespect me it was me simply saying come on to them and they just left when someone taunts me at the start of a match i taunt back as a way of saying bring it on

  • Whether you start the match with a taunt or not, there's some people who will use that as an advantage to get a head start in percentage build up. It's disrespectful and dishonorable, but there's no rules that declare it to be illegal. Most of the pros that I've seen will taunt once along with you as a way of saying "Good luck" before beginning the match.

  • well i don't blame them for wanting a free hit but what if that's a trap that ive set in place to see there fighting style

  • "Every first match against someone is always data". I don't entirely see how taunting would be devised as a trap considering it doesn't act as a counter and just leaves you open for early higher damage percent. Unless you play well with a high damage because it puts your character in "rage mode", but it still puts you in a risky state.

  • i have my reasons for calling it a trap and i know its working if you can't see a valid reason for me calling it such (im not trying to be rude so sorry if it came off that way)

Honestly, you can't expect people to understand what you personally are trying to accomplish by taunting. It's not a universally understood gesture that you're trying to be friendly. I wouldn't blame your opponent for thinking you were being pretentious. Pretentious people are not any fun to play with. (I'm not saying you are pretentious, just trying to see a different point of view.)

  • i understand what you're saying but i just find it strange is all i mean the last guy who started the match with a taunt ended up completely destroying me with what felt like little effort to him so maybe they thought i was really really skilled and just didn't want to go through that
