OK, SM64 DS IS THE WORST MARIO GAME. NOT THAT ITS BAD, ITS JUST A POINTLESS REMASTER THAT REALLY DOESN'T IMPROVE THE ORIGINAL AND IF ANYTHING MAKES IT HARDER DUE TO THE FIXED CAMERA AND TRASH CONTROLS. NINTENDO NEEDS TO REMASTER SM64-SMG2 ON WIIU/NX. MANY OF THESE GAMES CONTROLS & VISUALS HAVE AGED A BI. SINCE NINTENDO IS REMASTERING LINK GAMES LIKE CRAZY...WHY NOT MARIO, SAMUS OR DK?

  • @jack its hard to control. sm64 on n64 wasnt hard to control. @cody midair jumping isnt that important. and every review ive looked up on sm64 ds says its lesser than the original version. i can deal with mario not being able to jump like he does in the 2000s, i cant deal with a bad camera & slow characters that require a run button to move fast. plus the graphics are worse not better.

  • @teamrwby and again you make this about sony vs nintendo. omg, sony does much better remasters. at least you can see the visual difference, twilight princess was a terrible remaster. many of the textures and even missions feel dated and arent fun. crash bandicoot released a month before sm64. crash trilogy is getting remastered on ps4. all sm64 got for its 20th anniversary was a port of a dated re

  • remake. @zeth no smg doesnt. compare smg to r&c tools of destruction, both cameout the same week, r&c looks 5x better than smg. graphically, no game on the wii looked good. at times games would look good for a wii game but compared to ps3 or 360 the visuals were bad. also, smg is motion sensing, many levels are all about that and thats where it shows its age. its not fun to play anymore.

    Yeahs0
  • @t gun but those are original games, sm64 ds is a remake and its just not good. the only reason anyone should buy it is if you really want to play a 3d mario game with other characters.

  • I wouldn't wat him to jump like he did in the 2000s. Mario has always felt like a stiff block in the air and any fluidity is a welcome change. Mid air turning is very important if you have no double or triple jump to add air. Otherwise you feel like a slab of concrete. Without mid air turning Champions Road for example would be impossible.

    Yeahs0
  • @cody but champions road isnt the type of level that would fit into 3d mario games. the levels in sm64 are meant to show the power of n64. like the draw distances, and huge environments. that game is representative of n64. sm64 ds isnt a representation of the ds. neither is sm3dw a representation of the wiiu, for the matter. sm64 didnt have mid air jumping because it wasnt needed.

  • i dig the midair jump, i cant deal with the bad camera, many times i had to press L, at every turn. its not worth it, i'd play the original version anyday. i'm hoping the new mario game on nx will be the true return to 3d mario. a game that fully represents the system its on.

  • If 3D World had tried to represent the Gamepad it would have been a disaster, the Gamepad levels were the worst part about the game. It's distracting to constantly look down at the Gamepad then back to the screen, takes away from the immersion. Captain Toad tried to be more representative of the Wii U's controls and it was average-mediocre.

@cody not true. sm3dw was fine how it was, the wiiu just didnt have a premiere mario game. sm3dL took advantages of the 3d handheld, yet your telling me the same company that made a white stick a controller, cant find any cool ways to make a mario game work with the gamepad like smg did for the wiimote. i can think of many neat ways of using mario.

how about making a 3d mario game where you constantly can jump from gamepad to tv? or a super mario tv land, and the gamepad can be used as a new tablet controller, heck, even luigi mansion u. nintendo just made a sequel to 3dL to play it safe and to make it seem like a new mario game was coming.

    Yeahs0
  • It's totally true, I just explained how it was, and if you want I can repeat it. It's distracting to look down at the controller and tap something, then look back up at the TV, it breaks the immersion and the TV will always be vastly superior to the controller. And yes, Captain Toad and Star Fox Zero, two of the games that made most use of the GamePad, were average-mediocre.

@cody true, but nintendo still didnt really "try" to make a groundbreaking mario with a new idea. i would have liked an attempt at a super mario wiiu. it can be sm64 style & the only time you use the gamepad is mini games. i think that would have been fun. also, sony's tearaway uses its touchpad in innovative ways, like to bounce the player or blow wind, or to use items or gadgets

    Yeahs1
  • So...you're saying, ultimately, SM64 is the worst mario game because you find the remake bad, claiming it doesn't add anything(you know, minus 4 characters that play differently along with a mini-game mode you can play with friend but whatever)?

    Yeahs2
  • ^No, he was saying the remake itself is bad. I don't think he was saying that the original is the worst.

    Yeahs0
  • What does this have to do with Legends of Zelda?

    Yeahs0
  • @mr awesome sm64 is, imo, the best 3d mario game, next to sunshine. i dont like the controls and graphics of the remake

    Yeahs0
  • Well, alright, controls are down to preference, but... Graphics? Why? Comparing the original vs the DS remake, not only is the latter sharper, but also has more detailed textures. What about it's Graphics makes it bad?

the 3ds version looks more blurry and feels smaller in scope. and sm64's gimmick was the analog stick. on the ds version, the buttons are mapped to a d pad, so even with an analog, it still feels a bit harder to turn. its ok, but i think the content is what shines, not the gameplay in sm64 ds.

    Yeahs0
  • that didn't answer my question

    Yeahs0
  • @nathan basically loz get remasters, mario doesn't
