But I believe it is important that people such as you call your attention to much worse events in history like the Japanese invasion of China, the Holocaust, the siege of Leningrad, Native American atrocities, and many more.

    How about the exploitation of India, Ireland, and Scottland by Brittain? How about the way Europe completely decimated Africa's culture and economic structure that still hasn't been fixed to this day? How about the way the Ottoman Empire was dissolved into a bunch of countries after WWI & a lot of those countries still have tension (Iraq, Afghanistan, Israel, etc)? There's so many to choose from.
