    I'm not saying I hate adelle but songs like American Idiot and many other are classics. I get that pop music is called pop music for a reason, because it's popular but still 5 years from now most of these songs will be forgotten while the classics will stay with us

    Agreed. I try not to hate anything. And yeah the classic's are here to stay. I guess it's because pop is more acceptable/accessible to a lot of people. For me rock and metal is life. I don't care if it's popular.

    It's the truth! Disco was the pop of the 70's and a couple songs survived because they continuously get put in movies. Besides that no one remembers disco and no one will remember the pop artist of today.

    Artists like Adelle, and Michael Jackson, will be remembered long after acts like "Green Day." Why? Because they're popular, and more people like them, and more people *will* like them, in days to come. It's simple, really. I mean, don't hate on me too much for saying that, okay?
