    The sales and other games really has nothing to do with this. No matter what platform, Minecraft is a very well recieved game. One of the main reasons is because of the creativity it offers its users. Most other games dont have that.

    The main reason it's popular is because it's the first version of minecraft on a nintendo console; it gives wii u users who havent played before, a chance to enjoy the game in all of it's greatness. It's pretty obvious why it was popular, and there's no need to keep looking at the sales charts.
