StreetPass challenges doubt

Can someone tell me if I lose the opportunity to overcome the challenges that requires to hit Dark Link with a normal weapon if I improve it with Mother Maiamai? I want to complete the 100% of the game, so I have that doubt. I have already rescued 56 Maiamai babies, and I didn't went to improve any weapon yet. xD Please, help me. Thank you. :)

    It still counts. I got all fifty medals (the prize is AWESOME so it's worth doing) and I didn't even start collecting until I'd made all my weapons Nice. Upgrade them and don't worry, if anything it'll be even easier!
