Zero Escape: Zero Time Dilemma

This is a very nice thing in my opinion: After finding out about the two-hour time lag between the teams and the fact that they've been in the same place all the time, the flowchart changes so that it incorporates that time lag, showing what really happened in chronological order. That also explains why the teams first woke four and a half hours later - the other two teams had their turns first.

btw, you HAVE played all 3, right? I was kinda reigning myself in to not spoil anything from 999/VLR just in case you hadn't :) nothing worse than some random blabbermouth blurting out "OMG!!1!!!1 ACE IS TOTES HIDING TEH FACT THAT HES -¨ [sounds of gunshot and tattletale hitting ground] - amirite? XD

I did play all three of them, yes. Not in chronological order, though: I started with VLR, figured it was awesome, realized that there was a previous title, imported it, had another great time of fun and suspense (though I disliked having to play the whole story again to get the multiple endings, fast forward be praised), and then everhypingly awaited the finale.

Yeah, I really dislike people spoiling major plot points'n twists - it just kills most of the suspense this type of games lives off of. What were you trying to say, though? "Snake's totes hiding the fact that he's actually - a total badass?", maybe xD?

glad that's outa the way then, hate gratuitous spoilers and even more so when i accidently do it myself XD - no, the reference was to Ace from 999 who was secretly faceblind (prosopagnostic) which played a major role in the puzzle with the face cards and had me floored back then. ...it was Ace, right? Been years since I played 999...

well whaddyaknow, I posted that last post and completely forgot to spoiler-tag it... good thing that can be corrected even after the fact, that would have been the mother of all blunders there XD

so tell me, how was it playing VLR and 999 in reverse order? Did it render 999 mostly moot or did you enjoy it still? I imported 999 on release day way back when, so to me it was 'smooth sailing' through the story, that's why I'm really curious how much of an impact your order of play had, especially on the OMG moments.

oh, and one last thing, and again, this is me just being curious: I was lucky enough to read of VLR's major save bug disaster before even I played it, and it didn't hit me since I knew the workaround beforehand - did you know too or did you actually fall prey to that nasty all-wipe like a lot of people purportedly did?

Well, how do I put it ... It didn't ruin the game for me, that's for sure. The only things I knew from VLR was that there would be Junpei, Akane and Clover in the nonary game, and at the end, they'd meet 'all-ice' Alice. Some of the endings still got me good, like the death ending in which Clover goes full rampage with that axe - kinda reminded me of the VLR Clover.

I still have no idea who killed everyone in the submarine ending, though, since Ace is ruled out as he would never ever kill Clover. Huh ... It did have some great moments to me, like the finale with the 9/q door and the incinerator, even though I knew Akane, Junpei and Clover would definetely survive since they had to in order for VLR to happen.

I never encountered the save bug and only stumbled upon this information later when I researched about 999. Lucky me, I guess xD But yeah, Ace's fake death and blindness was pretty cool. Especially when you found him inside that coffin later on ^^

glad to hear nothing was spoilt then even in that order! Now that you mention it, I guess there really is a boatload of stuff in 999 that VLR doesn't even touch on let alone spoil, what with the coffin, the q (dropped my jaw that one, hard!), and yes, *All-ice*, w-o-w. I loved the whole ice-9 bit, that was fascinating and frankly a little scary - oh, and...

...not to forget Ship of Theseus - knew that one coming in and have always loved that philosophical conundrum of 'what makes you you' (nicely put, I know, guess I had a poet for breakfast XD) - that was one of the those things that glued me to this game (and its brethren), the sheer - how shall I put that - 'un-triviality' of it all, I guess. Or as the poet in me would say: ¨Heavy s**t, brah!¨ XD

As for the sub ending, I can't for the life of me remember my theory from back then, but I am pretty sure I had it figured out - but I'm drawing a blank on that right now, maybe I'll recall after a good night's sleep, or a SHIFT through the morphogenetic field :-)) fingers crossed there's also a Miiverse on the other side so I can tell you the answer :)

Yeah, or Locke's socks xD It really was a well-formed story with the novel and escape room parts really flowing together, always pushing the story a little, but never so much that it stopped you from pondering the mysteries brought up. One of my favourite twists except the 'main' one, the q/9 door and the coffin was the one in which it was revealed that the numbers 6 and 9 were the other way aroun

oh, one more thing: have you seen the latest threads on this here forum? People are posting pics and comments on major plot twists with NO spoiler warnings whatsoever like there's no tomorrow! (and there won't be for them if they keep that up, I tell ya - I have half a mind to activate Sean 'Red-Eye' Seanbot on their collective bee-hinds XD). seriously, what are they thinking...?

lol, right, Locke's socks - I actually forgot about that, thanks for reminding me :-) Hey, speaking of which, maybe we just need a couple of those to shut up the spoiler guys here -that's probably where the saying 'put a sock in it' came from in the first place XD

Another thing about ZTD that blew my mind - did you notice that the Jupiter pendant ("a mother's memento") is actually on an infinite paradox loop? Diana gets it from Phi in the incinerator, then 10 months later gives it to (baby) Phi as a memento, then gets it 'back' in the incinerator timeline - etc. Question is, where did the pendant originate in the first place? Chicken and egg anyone?:)

I've been looking for similar games to fill the void that the end of the Zero series left, but I haven't found the right 'fix' yet - do you know anything in a similar vein? I will eventually replay the trilogy at some point, but for now I'm itching for something fresh to sink my teeth into, or rather, wrap my brain around :).

Yeah, well, Zero is the same, isn't he? The game only happened because of his existence, but the foundation for his birth was one of the histories branching off from the game. The same goes for Phi, as baby Phi was named in memory of her multiple time-trasported self. My head is starting to hurt again ... Right now, I can't remember any equally well-done similar kind of game, though.
