LBW is really fun. But with two overworld layouts, enemy and character designs, sound composition, items, and dungeon aesthetic, all lifted directly from Link to the Past, it's hard to consider it as anything more than a glorified reboot. Still, it had some great moments, but it's my least favorite Zelda I've played. Very good, but not a masterpiece, I'd say 8/10.

  • I loved the stealth maze section, that was just incredible. And what they did with the Dark Palace, and the Sand Palace and Ice Ruins, proves the Zelda Team have not lost their impeccable visual ability. The wall-merging ability gives a deeply intuitive feeling of satisfaction every time. I can't say I prefer the cartoon look to the mature LttP atmosphere but it has its charm.

  • thats the point of BTW because it is a sequel or prequel, na definitly a sequel

  • I don't like the item rental system, it kind of destroys the mystery and discovery in each dungeon. And I couldn't call it a sequel because its overworld layout is pretty much the exact same. Most dungeons are designed differently but many feel the same, and some even have identical sections like the "New" Eastern Palace Temple.

  • The Eastern Palace Temple by the way, is really well done in this version, it's actually one of the few things I like better than its SNES counterpart! I really like the green jade color this time around, it seemed more striking than in LttP. And the puzzles feel very fluid and intuitive.
