    ◆テカギイカ◆ 深海のイカ。名前がよく似たカギイカというイカもいるが特に近縁という訳でもないので注意しよう。 テカギイカは、その特殊な産卵で研究者を驚かせた。卵を守って丹念に世話をする種が多いタコと違い、イカは卵は産みっぱなしの放任主義が基本と思われていた。しかし数年前に撮影されたテカギイカは、卵を卵塊にして腕に抱き、本来の生息場所よりもずっと浅い所にいるのが観察された。深海の水は酸素が不足しがちなため、卵が酸欠にならないように海水に酸素が豊富な層までやってくるのだ。しかも腕を絶え間なく動かし常に新鮮な水を送る甲斐甲斐しさである。母イカにとってこの育児は非常なリスクであり、浅い層まで来たテカギイカはカモメなどに容赦なく襲われる。また抱卵中は絶食するため、稚イカの孵化が終わると母イカは命を終える。 ラストフェスは是非、壮絶な子育てに見る母性、テカギイカに一票を！
