    I personally disagree with the theory too. Maybe Mario collects souls. The coins you get from blocks could be toad souls, as the manual says the toads are blocks now. Also, in Super Mario 64, Mario needs coins in order to survive getting hit over and over again. Maybe Mario made a deal with the devil, and when he dies, he goes back to hell where he came from! ...Too deep?

    To deep, the blocks the toads turned into are not the same blocks you destroy! The coins in Mario 64 are like the rings in Sonic, so I don't think he made a deal with the devil :-/ thanks for the theory though!
