It's definitely a poor Spin off title, but it's not as bad as i've seen so many people claim it is. The game's biggest issue stems with it's design, not the glitches. The engine used for the game is similar to Open World exploration games such as Rachet and Clank or Jak and Dexter, because Big Red Button (This game's developers) are mostly ex-Naughty Dog employees...

...who have experience with this sort of game. Unfortunately, this sort of game doesn't work very well with Sonic characters. Sonic and his gang tend to be a bit too slow, which is an instant problem, as speed is a necessary factor needed in any Sonic game starring the Blue Hedgehog, spin-off or not. The combat is pretty dull and uninteresting, compared to Sonic Heroes's or Sonic Unleashed's...

...Werehog gameplay. As for the platforming sections, they're okay, but it's still disapointing that there's no speed whatsoever during those sections. And the running sections? Pfft. These are just ridiculous, they're just a hugely downgraded versions of the Boost Formula gameplay from the Main Series titles, which only requires minimal dodging of obstacles and some jumping...

...There is some fun to be had though. The puzzles you solve can be enjoyable, and it's not like Sonic games haven't had puzzles before. And a couple of the bosses, such as Eggman's mech are fun. Metal Sonic is rather annoying, however, as the game tends to make lose rings even if you've jumped over and obstacle. And dying at him will force you to have to redo him from the start...

...basic cutscenes with plenty of humor. Scenes where Knuckles is being an idiot, are hilarious sometimes, such as when he tells a robot where Sonic and Tails are, even though he's not meant to, causing Amy to nudge him hard. It's a decent story, but not amazing, which is perfectly fine for a Sonic title. Rise Of Lyric is a bad, yet slightly enjoyable game, if you're willing to give it a try.
