Wario Land 3

I've been wanting to get back into the Wario series for a while so I decided to start with what some think its the best Wario Land game, Wario Land 3. I had seen it as a MyNintendo reward for a while but since I was never going to be able to buy it with golden coins, I decided to just buy it from the Eshop. I hope its worth it.

Really? Because I've heard nothing but praise about this game. In terms of critical reception, its the highest rated Wario Land game.

I remember back when I had a physical copy of this gem. I should get it sometime once I'm not busy with other games. (I'm still waiting for Shake It!! by the way.)

Shake It was pretty good. It had a pretty unique art style that sadly hasn't been seen again.

Not surprised that we haven't. I hear Wario himself has over 2,000 hand drawn models for his animations, and that's not counting the enemies or the NPCs.

Though it seems that WL3 and Shake It are drastically different from each other. WL3 seems to be more a metroidvania type of game whereas Shake It was a straightward platformer. I guess that's the reason why fans weren't very fond of the game.

Shake It!! had more similarities with Wario Land 4, which was also considered a strong entry. (Especially for an early GBA game) I'm not sure what people had problems with.

From what I've heard the issue was with the controls. Some people (not me) thought they got old and repetitive after a while. Others disliked it for its length (I had no issue with that ). From what I've heard, some WL fans didn't like how WL4, and by extension Shake It, made it so Wario could be killed again, as it took away from what had been one the series most unique aspects.

Weird, I thought that they had more of a problem with him (almost) unkillable. Guess that's the inconsistency of word-of-mouth. (There's actually one way that Wario can die in WL3, but I'll leave that for you to figure out)
