Yeah, the graphics are below the standards of the Wii U. Blame the cry-engine for that, because it wasn't designed for the Wii U. Still though, they're okay graphics in their own right.

To be honest, Sonic and the Secret Rings is the only non-PS2 Sonic game that looks like a PS2 game. But then again, the PhysX engine brought us Sonic Colors, which looks like a PS3 game...Sonic Boom has okay graphics in my opinion, though. Not PS2, not Wii U, definitely not Xbox 360...probably an early 3DS/Wii title.
