Yes, finally I can swim. But flippers? That's what he need to swim? But whatever, now I have a lot of levels to go back to. This game started rather linear but now its become a lot more open ended.

The fallen hero timeline Link really should have learned how to swim. He was too dependent on those flippers. Which is why it probably wasn't a good idea for him to sail out to sea.

The Link in the Force Era didn't know how to swim either. Or rather the second Link we've seen in chronological order.

It becomes a lot less linear too. Returning to the anicent being gives you a clue to where to go next.
