    Once someone shot themself because of something but instead of saying they'll shoot themself they said they'll trigger themself. idek

    The term "triggered" came from a popular buzzword on tumblr. Basically, it was a "trigger" for certain memories or feelings to happen. Here's an example: Random person 1: "I like monkeys." Random person 2: "A monkey stole my favorite hat when I was 6! Triggered!"

    Probably from the way mental triggers exist in people with certain mental disorders, be it a specific place, sound, sight, etc. Predominant in people with PTSD. This is very real and should not be taken lightly. Then it kind of became appropriated to mean anything that irks someone, i.e. "SonicxAmy 4evr~<3" "I h8 sunamy" "TRIGGERED!!111!!1!"
