  • In the original Japanese script for Ocarina of Time, Sheik was always referred to with gender-neutral pronouns. In universe no-one was sure who Sheik really was (except Impa, who was protecting her identity). One common assumption is Zelda bound her body to disguise herself as a man and hide her identity. Since OoT, Sheik has been presented as an alter-ego for Zelda that retains female gender.

  • Oh, I know, I just like to poke fun at the old discussions/arguments over it. ;> Personally, since I was little, I always simply thought Zelda just used magic to turn into a guy, or at the very least mask her femininity. The current official explanation kinda sucks the mystique out of it… (;ˇ^ˇ;)
