How do you wall jump?

The little animals are trying to show me how to wall jump, but I just can't seem to do it. Can anyone help me?

    Start by spinjumping towards a wall. Once you're touching it, start holding the opposite direction (e.g. away from the wall) on the d-pad and press the jump button. The wall jump can be pretty tricky at first, but once you master it you'll start wondering how you could ever live without it!

    another tip is wehn youhit the wall you dont have to HOLD the oppisite direction you can just give a quick tap in theother direction

    i jump at a wall in a spin then i press the opposite direction and then jump
