And I don't exactly work 'at' the hospital. I'm the ambulance driver! And also the dispatch. Small town, you know." You're a paramedic? "Heh, no. I got my First Responder cert, but I'm no EMT.   'Huh. I thought you had to have a medical licence to drive one of those. "Ain't like I go out alone. Can't expect someone to treat a patient while they got their hands on the wheel, can you?"   So, how long have you been driving ambulances? "Eh, it's been a few years. Started here in Gráig about as soon as the hospital got built." Where were you before? "Capital City, of course. I tell ya, driving's a lot different out here in the boonies. You got a lot less traffic, sure, but the roads aren't nearly as good. Street layout's real confusing too. You should give your urban planner a talk."

  I am the urban planner … "Ah, guess you already know what I'm talking about." I was developing around the forest! Natural beauty is one of our main draws … "Okay, but I once picked up a collapsed patient and somehow ended up delivering him to an apartment building outta town. Nearly lost my job over that. Kinda saved my job too, though: nobody knows these twisty little roads better than me!"

  They couldn't just train someone else? "I ain't driving a cab here! If I get turned around on the way to a pickup, that could be someone's life! And all the recent construction means half of it's not gonna be on the GPS. That's why I gotta know this town like the back of my hand." Wow, that sounds really difficult.   Please don't tell me you raced on public roads … "H-hey! I was never that stupid! More to the point, I wouldn't have this job if I had a criminal record." Oh, that's good.
