A big one for the head, a couple for the body, stretched out ones for the limb segments …" You're talking about construction shapes? Yeah, they're useful if you're still learning proportions, but there are lot of artists who can just eyeball them. I'm guessing you're working through tutorials, huh?

    Say you really do want to make a nice circle. You can't get frustrated because it doesn't look perfect the first time. You see where you went wrong, then you draw another circle right on top of it. Fix up parts of the arc until you're happy with it. Then you erase everything that isn't the circle, and there you go! Circle! You wanna draw something more complex? It's the exact same process!

    "So a perfectionist can't be a good artist, then …" Well, you can still be really, really, REALLY finicky in fixing it up. But there's no reason get frustrated. Not liking what's on the page doesn't mean you're a bad artist, Peaches, it just means you're not done yet. But giving up? Or just … bashing your head against a blank page? THAT would make you a bad artist. "Oh. That does make sense …"
