Sonic Mania stages

The fact that there will be more classic re-imagined stages than original ones is honestly a bit disheartening. My ideal vision was that it would be a new Classic Sonic adventure with only a few rehashed stages sprinkled in. But alas, as an Anniversary title it will sacrifice some originality. Anyone else feel that way?

    Well let's not jump to conclusions just yet, Jessie. So far they've only showcased the re-imagined Green Hill Zone and the new Studiopolis stage. We've yet to see any of the other stages yet. Also bare in mind that this isn't so much a new adventure so much as a re-imagining of the classic 90's era of Sonic.

    But, didn't the guys working on the stages said that was completely misunderstood & there'd be plenty of new along with the reimagined stages

    I felt Whitehead's take on Green Hill was rather impressive with new ideas mixing up the formula like elemental shields, Sonic 2 Möbius strips, and Sonic 3 Special Stage rings. Not to mention the cool underground detour along with the new upper section. If the classic levels are given as much care, I don't think I'll be too disappointed.

    I don't really feel like using old assets necessarily means it's the same stage. I already prefer this Green Hill over the original. I'm also interested to see where Act 2 takes off after Act 1. Maybe it'll be more of a tropical cave type area in the vein of MS Sonic 1's Act 2. I'm very interested to see where Whitehead takes us with his new recreations.

    @Rc: Yeah, basically same. @Jalzo: We don't have any information about that other than the teaser and...that's it. @Andy: I know it isn't a full-blown "new!" game but I was kinda hoping it would be. Not a big complaint, just a nitpick. @Rufry: I meant a new Classic Sonic adventure, not a new classic "Sonic Adventure." Not the game, just the word adventure.

    Decade and experiencing the ups and downs has been a rollercoaster ride. And I guess ranting about this puts me right in the stigma of Sonic fans never being satisfied, huh? @Shark: Yeah he did. @Psylenco: As overrated as it is, I hope Ice Cap is in it. It was my favorite stage in Sonic 3 for some reason. But putting stages like Bridge Zone would be great too. @Camren: My thoughts exactly.

    Tbh I'm more interested in the 2017 3D Sonic game, I'm hoping it'll be good, personally I'm really only into 2 or 3 of the Sonic games, not to say they're bad games, more or less it just is rarely fun for me

    Mania's not really doing it for me. I'd rather they do a sort of Sonic 3D Land with more-frequent-yet-smoother-and-more-subtle transitions between 2D and 3D areas and the return of Amy and Cream as playables. Plus, ditch Sonic's Homing Attack for anyplace walljumping. That was the one major thing Sonic 3 & Knuckles was missing.
