(Was meant to post this earlier) What are your thoughts on the Zelda series endings? I haven't played all the games and the games I'm particularly interested in hearing about Skyward Sword, Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, Wind Waker and possibly Phantom Hourglass? Feel free to mention any of the Zelda games of course though!

Well, If I think deeply about it many of them have sad endings... I could say the best ending is the one from Skyward Sword cause it explains a lot as a origin for the series and his ending is a little more happy than sad. Greetings!

Greetings too D-Player, thanks for your input! Especially so soon and detailed! I agree on Skyward Sword, it was such a bittersweet ending, considering what happened to Fi especially and OOT's brought me to tears when I first played it so many years ago! :< Wind Waker left me stunned with how Ganondorf was defeated and in tears with Daphne's death and Hyrule flooding.

Just thinking about Twilight Princess and even that ended on a sombre/bittersweet note...Come back Midna! >_< I can't remember Majoras Masks ending in detail, but it seems like it could be the happiest somehow ironically? Or am I just not remembering it well enough? xD Phantom Hourglass if I remember right, left me quite perplexed with its ending? It was a dream or something? :S :<

I love Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker but not a fan of their endings =( but i think that makes them special. I didn't play Phantom hourglass but i watched the ending cause back then i think i will never be able to play it so i only could say is more of a happy ending since plays like a 'dream story' something than happen with Link's awakening.

Well, in most of the games Hyrule goes back to "normality." Almost always you can see the damages evil did to Hyrule. Yes, Skyward Sword is bittersweet as Ocarina of Time, ans it's kind of sad too as in Twilight Princess when Midna leaves Link. Majora's Mask is a bit of mysterious, it doesn't really say what does the guy with the mask does after. Well, just an opinion.

Yeah, they did leave quite a bittersweet taste in my mouth. They were probably the best part of the story somehow? The OOT ending was a shock for me, I wasn't sure how it would end and the fact we only got 1 possible ending until the official timeline was revealed was kinda jarring. Ah yeah, I was getting some 'deja vu' with Links Awakening regarding PHs ending, even though I havent played LA! xD

Well i dind't start good with Midna and her initials comments about Link and Zelda so honestly didn't feel bad for her goodbye, feel more from Link leaving Ordon without saying goodbye. Well, about Majora's Mask if you know what happen later with this Link you could say is more a bad ending somehow but as a game has a good and happy ending but there's no Zelda so i don't like it >_<

@Carlos Yes, that's a good point too actually! It's like winning a battle or war, you usually end up with scars showing what you went through, if you survive and even win possibly! @D-Player I forgot to say, it did help to make them special, memorable even imo :). And I relate to that, it seems some of the most memorable characters in stories start out 'unlikeable' but they change and become

more likeable to some degree at least? Ah yeah, leaving Ordon is sad, it was such a nice community and environment from what I remember. I think those 3 kids idolised Link too? And then there's Illia... Majoras Mask, hoo boy! You just made me remember what happens after that, which ties into TP ofc! If anything Zelda, balances shades of light and darkness quite well? Like a Yin and Yang?

Yeah Link got their fans there, anyway never notice that any of Ordon village are hylians looking their ears. Illia was just like Saria in my opinion, i think she was the last to talk to Link before leaving. Good night! now i really want to play Spirit Tracks and know very well the story and ending, have high expectations to be my favorite 2D zelda game. Good luck and have fun!

Well I've beat every Zelda except for OoA, but I'll just talk about Skyward Sword for now. The ending leads into the creation of Hyrule which is ofcoarse a Kingdom but what was Skyloft's government? There seemed to be nothing in place. Were the school teacher also chiefs of the island. It's not really clear but it seems more modern than the sort of royal government that comes later.

The Ordon Village People (Its fun to stay at the YMCA! xD) have round-ish ears like actual humans don't they? Illia has reminded me of Saria tbh and I've seen people draw parallels between her and Saria before. I've heard TP was meant to be a 'modern version' of OOTand given the Hero's Shade, that helps add to that greatly ofc. I didn't get along with Spirit Tracks due to the panpipes and DS mic

but it might be better via the WiiU gamepad? It was a cool game in concept, it did have it's flaws but I really liked the Phantom Zelda concept and trains :). @RedMask Ah yeah, thats a good question. More modern than the royal goverment? Could you elaborate on that per chance? It reminded me of a village tbh with a small community and a mayor in charge maybe?

Monarchy/kingdoms though romanticized in fiction are the worst form of government. Whereas pretty much every other government imaginable is better assuming more people have power instead of just one. Plus Skyloft had a school and Hyrule did not. A society that educates it's population is more modern because an educated population would revolt against a king.

Ah yes, very true! So obvious now you've explained it! :< Your first line reminds me of how Chinese history is romanticised in Dynasty Warriors for example. History is written by the winners as they say? Its going to be like propaganda and glorify certain things, such as Chinas glorifying its leaders, general history etc? Hope im making sense lol. But yeah, thats a really good point, thanks!
