Question

How long?

I just got this, and I'm wondering how long it'll take to learn BASIC. I'm not in a rush, I just want to get into some sorta RPG and maybe even a puzzle.

    Eperience + Effort + input = time. It's different for everyone. I've had the game for 6 months and am barely competent. Others come from a coding background and are basically wizards.

    The only experience in coding I've had is Lua (barely anything), and C# (just a tad bit of Terraria modding), and maybe around 5 minutes of Java experience. But I am planning to spend quite a bit of time on this.

    It can be hard at first, but what I suggest doing is downloading others games and looking at the code. Look at how they make characters move, title screen, et cetra. That's how I learned. To get you started I'll upload a version of my game and give you the key. Instructions: From top menu go to: "publishing/downloading." Then go to Download games by other users: Put in the code!

    Basic is a high level language (very human readable), it's pretty easy to learn. Certainly easier than both C# and Java. No one can give you a time frame but yourself. 1 month of hard work and you could learn a lot though.

    Yeah, my C# and Java skills are very minimal, but I'm planning to start a text-base 'choose your adventure' style game first, since I'm fairly good at buttons :P

    Well it takes a while how to learn every single command but a lot of the other commands are unnecessary to learn and you can pretty much make anything you want.
