Thoughts on Nintendo Switch

So, after along while, the console formerly known as the NX that Nintendo has been teasing for over a year has finally been revealed today, known as the Nintendo Switch. What are your opinions on it? I'll post mine down in the comments.

    Well, first things first: I think it looks great. It's small so it doesn't take up a lot of room, and it's basically a fusion between a 3DS and Wii U, which are my two favorite Nintendo consoles. The handles allowing easy multiplayer seems great for my siblings if they want to play. The 3rd Party lineup looks massive too, compared to the Wii U. Sadly though...

    ...It looks like the Switch will kill off the Wii U (3DS's future is unknown) which is one of my favorite consoles. I hope for backwards compatibility, but seeing as the screen wasn't touched in the trailer, it seems unlikely. I'm also glad that amiibo support is confirmed for the console (Why else would amiibo be in the trailer) because I'm a huge collector.

    I'm also hyped for the new(?) Splatoon and Mario Kart shown, although to me they look more like enhanced ports to me, but only time will tell. I also hope that the Nintendo Network (And thus, Miiverse) will continue on Switch, because I've grown quite attached to Miiverse. Overall, I'm very much looking forward to the Switch and hope to see more.

    I'm hoping that the Mario Kart stuff ends up being DLC. I find it pretty cool that it acts as a console and a handheld.
