Port Fatal Frame to the Switch

Here's your million dollar idea Nintendo. It already seems like you're porting over remasters of Splatoon and Mario Kart 8. So here's your chance to do it with Fatal Frame. Give it the respect this series deserves. Market the heck out of it (and actually market it), give it a physical edition, and I could see it being successful.

  • Anyway all I'm saying is that its still coming. Twilight Princess launched on GC long after no one cared about the GC anymore.I think Geist was the last game that Nintendo published on the GC prior to Zelda TP and that was months before Zelda. The same is happening here with BOTW. The last game Nintendo published on the Wii U was Paper Mario and months later Zelda.

  • aw justin, geist looks awesome, ive been dying to play it one day, i just can't seem to find it. i'd love to see nintendo hire the creators of that game and position them at retro studios for sequel, i feel like nintendo needs a first person shooter franchise, and geist is the perfect franchise for it. more importantly i'd love to see eternal darkness 2, because nintendo did re-file a trademark.

  • but yeah im totally gonna get breath of the wild for the wii u, because its still gonna be a while before i get the switch, right now i cannot afford another system, not to mention that i don't have enough space, not to mention i think the wii u version will be some sort of collectors item, the same twilight princess was on the nintendo gamecube, (i wish i had the gamecube version anyway)

  • Just remember that the first few launch titles for the Switch were most likely intended for the Wii U, but Nintendo was content with double tapping the Wii U and leaving Wii U owners in the dust. It's also wise to remember that the shortsighted Iwata was the one who gave the Switch the go ahead, so expect a weak piece of trash that third parties will ignore after a year.

  • @Doug, that's what worries again with the Switch is it's basically in the exact same situation as the Wii U was in in terms third party support 'in the launch window'. Virtually every single one of them abandoned it within the year. Which is a shame that more third party exclusives weren't made for it, cause it is a great system. Games like Fatal Frame were practically made for this system.

  • Just a shame more people couldn't get their hands on this game because of NoA's stupid decision making skills. With all the hype the Switch is getting, it makes perfect sense to take more chances now but we all know that won't happen. Too much wishful thinking only gets us far with Sony or Microsoft, etc.

  • Unless the Switch has something truly awesome up its sleeve, I'm beginning to think we're just going to have another Wii U on our hands. I really don't think the specs will be up to snuff for future games, and it seems Nintendo focused on meeting the bare minimum. We will more than likely never see another Fatal Frame game in the US. Hell, we'll be lucky if we get another Metroid at this point.

  • Nintendo will claim 'sales didn't meet our expectations, so we're shelving the franchise' or some other corporate bull, but they themselves are why people didn't buy Fatal Frame, or Federation Farce. Maiden of Black Water was great, and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Unfortunately, NoA is run by a bunch of half wits, and decided to release it digitally, which you already know.

  • Nobody wants to buy a digital game for a console that doesn't even have enough space for it, let alone from a company that doesn't have a competent account system. Asking people to go out and buy an external HDD is absurd, and adds at least fifty shekels to the price of the game alone. Federation Farce was a kick in the teeth to every Metroid fan there is.

  • What's worse, is that Nintendo said we'd like Federation Farce because they said we would. The game was trash, and rightfully flopped. Almost every game Nintendo has put out in the last three years has been trash, and only existed to silence talk of a drought, or to sell their Happy Meal toys. Look at 2016, for example.

  • When your best rated game is a half-assed "remaster" of a ten year Zelda game, what does that say about you as a company? That you have top notch games, and are a competent developer? Far from it. Great job inspiring consumer confidence, you morons. This is what disheartens me. I've been a Nintendo gamer since the early 90's.

  • With the exception of the N64 and Virtual Boy, I've owned every console and handheld Nintendo has put out. They used to be known for quality games, and sturdy hardware. Then Iwata came along and tossed all of that out the window. Yeah, people fawn over the guy and worship him, but that man ruined Nintendo.

  • I don't care if the Wii sold 100 million units to soccer moms who wanted Uncle TV to watch junior while she and Tyrone checked the plumbing while daddy was at work. I don't care if the DS is the highest selling handheld of all time. Iwata was content on producing cheap, gimmicky trash, and the quality didn't matter as long as it sold. It's all about them easy shekels, right?

  • Nintendo is a shell of itself. They lost my interest with the Wii, and they lost my trust with the Wii U. I have never seen such disrespect to consumers from a company. You bought a Wii U and expect games? YOU'RE ENTITLED! You don't want your games censored? SOMEONE MIGHT GET TRIGGERED! You want a region free console? IT WILL HURT OUR REGIONAL SALES!

  • And anytime anybody brought any of this up, we all got the exact same response: Prease Understand. Oh, we understand, Nintendo. Don't worry. I just hope you understand when we don't all rush out and buy your next gimmicky wonder. /end rant

  • Couldn't have said it better myself. I don't completely agree on your view of Iwata, as he gave us Pokemon Gold and Silver and made those games possible, etc, but I do see what you mean by his actions toward the company. My friend feels the same way with the Wii, he greatly misses the Gamecube era too. Too much of a focus on gimmicks has hurt them by this point.

    Yeahs1
  • It's funny, I can't remember the last time I bought a new Nintendo game for these very reasons, have bought used for years when it comes to Nintendo games. Even got my Wii U used lol. Can't wait to import Fatal Frame too and support NoE. Felt great supporting NoJ when I was over there and bought Fatal Frame 4.

    Yeahs2
  • I should've been more specific with Iwata. The man was a brilliant developer, but his actions as head of Nintendo are what soured my opinion of him. Hope that makes sense. I agree with your friend, too. The GameCube was the last great Nintendo console, but now they're known for their gimmicks, and not for their games. I sincerely hope Kimishima can return them to their former glory.

  • @Doug "No one needs to buy a HDD to play FF! ALL Wii U consoles have 32 gigs of space. All you have to do is erase some games you paid for to make room." This is an argument that someone got into with me about FF. This is how sad fanboys can be. I argued that people like me with the 8 gig model must have a HDD as 16gigs of data won't fit into 8gigs of space. Apologists will make any excuse for NOA

    Yeahs1
  • They refuse to see how they are being screwed over. Besides, digital media should never be $50/60. The reason retail games are $50/60 is BECAUSE they are physical. The price is to offset the cost of manufacturing the actual disc and packaging. $50 is way to much for a game that was only available digitally.
