As we all know, the original Yoshi's Island game retconned the Mario Bros.' backstory, changing them from real world Brooklyn plumbers to being delivered by stork in the Mushroom World. Who's to say this game didn't also change Donkey Kong's backstory, and that the DKC Donkey Kong was the arcade original all along?
