    Sorry i know nothimg about gengar i can't teach you ;^; But what i can do is just saying than when you do a A+X and the opponent is 5693 miles away, just cancel it with R+(any direction) and don't rush on somebody blocking just watch his playstyle to kind of predict wether or not he will block, just take your time in general and your A[Hold]cancel followed with a grab doesn't works on veteran
