Trill attacking Link for not paying may be a reference to the Shopkeeper of Mabe Village in Link's Awakening, who attacks and kills the hero upon re-entering the shop after stealing an item. Trill will attack Bokoblins (whom he refers to as "the evildoers")if they come too close to him. He will thank Link if he defeats them.

I remember stealing from Trill the bird when I was playing Twilight Princess at my grandma's house... NEVER. AGAIN.
