Can someone help me with Calc84's Raycaster Program?

The thing he left with the program to teach you what to do is very confusing...Can someone help me understand?

    If you download V360's program put the highlighted lines of code in the screenshot after the controls code if you want sky and ground graphics. (Make sure to put it after the controls code.)

    Squidy, the code automatically changes color on itself to show that it is a line of code. Also, selecting can be done by using the buttons on the bottom-right.
