save before you battle him and press start to go to the title keep doing that and one time he will say after the battle that youre strong and he'll be your friend after that you will become friends and he'll dissapear.

Yeah, you have to fight him and win easily. That means no item healing, quickly defeat him, attacks that hurt him a lot, and take minimal damage. Pretty much everything you need for a flawless run.
