According to a book, Gladion's main Pokémon Type: Null, was an attempt by the Aether Foundation to create an artificial version of the Original One, the mythical Arceus. It's basically Arceus' answer to Mewtwo.

    Oh great, and remember how many people died when that happened. Cloning... But then again, Dream Park is slated to open soon in Pokémon Pellago, and we all saw how that turned out in Jurassic World!
