So you know that fan-made Pokemon game and that fan-made Metroid 2 remake? Yeah, they were going to be in the Game Awards, as they were nominated for Best Fan Creation. But Nintendo hates fan-games so they had those games removed from the GAME AWARDS! Nintendo needs to stop being so over-protective of their stuff.

    If they were making money off it, then i would understand it. But those fan-games were tributes. They weren't made to make money. They were made as an expression of love towards that series. Something Nintendo doesn't understand.

    Look at Sega. Sega welcomes and encourages fan-games based on their properties. Nintendo should follow their example.

    I think they understand. But I'm sure the logic is like this: If you make an exception for some, you have to make an exception for everyone.

    I don't think that's the logic here. If Nintendo allows fan-games, then anyone can make them, and that'll be fine, as long as it's not made for profit.
