    Today, I learned that she had a kitten that she had been taking care of. My dog was a bit too excited and exhausted my stepdad, who is too old to be trying to force the dog to where he needs to be. I had a choice: the dog, or the cat that followed me home and her kitten. I had to take both her and her mother to the Humane Society today. Needless to say, I'm kind of disheartened.

    Man, that must have been a really hard choice to make. I'm more of a dog person myself, but I imagine it must have been difficult to give up that cat.

    I'm an animal person in general. What made it even worse was that the kitten, despite having no prior contact to human beings, was tame enough to let me pick him up. After that, he was walking around me while purring and rubbing up against my legs. If the dog, who is normally fine around the cats we have now, had been calmer and my stepdad had the energy for it, this wouldn't have come up.

    That's what I'm hoping. For cats that were born in the wild, they are quite tame. The sign above the counter didn't give me high hopes, though. "This is NOT a NO KILL facility"

    I learned the other day that the cat and her kitten are in a foster home. Once the kitten is weaned, the foster home will adopt the mother. When the kitten is grown, they will adopt the kitten as well.

    Foster home and eventual adoption is better than the alternative (euthanasia). Frankly, it's the best outcome I could've asked for.
