    How do you get the notes on there! Ex: Quarter note, whole note, etc.?

    Zach, unfortunately, you don't have the option for time dynamics (eighth notes, quarter notes, and so forth); you can only place the notes accordingly in time. Then, some of the enemies will have a sustained sound, and some of them will be either staccato, or normal in duration (for example, Dry Bones is a sustained sound, but a green or red Koopa is staccato).

    Also, tempo is determined by the speed that Mario moves. You can change the tempo if Mario is walking, running, still (Conveyor Belts or Skull Rafts), or by using one of the three auto-scroll options. If you're looking to make a music level, feel free to download one of my music levels, for reference. :)
