Fun fact. The Nintendo Switch isn't the first time Nintendo has dabbled into having Handheld games be playable on a TV. Back in the days of the Gamecube Nintendo released a device called the Gameboy Advance player that connected to the Gamecube and allowed you to play Gameboy games on your TV.

Actually it was earlier,the Super Nintendo had an device called the Super Gameboy where you could play original GameBoy games with a bit of color options on your T.V..
