SuMo strains the old 3DS & XL huh?

I can't even launch Miiverse while playing & the frame rate seems to suffer during double battles. I'm playing Moon on an old 3DS XL. I can only imagine how this runs on an older/smaller 3DS. I get the feeling that's why horde battles didn't return. Ugh. I wouldn't care if the characters were still chibi if it meant keeping good gameplay mechanics this gen.

  • I've got a N3DS XL so the game runs very smoothly on mine and I love everything about the game! I would definitely rather have this over the old chibi design!

  • Come to think of it, that's probably also why SuMo barely utilizes stereoscopic 3D. (Not that I ever really bothered with using 3D with any game.)

  • @ Tempora: Ah, I figured the N3DS would have no problems running the game. If SuMo was a N3DS exclusive, they probably would've been able to use the fancy new graphics *and* keep horde encounter, triple battles, etc.

  • I have the oldest model 3DS and the framerate does noticeably drop a little during double battles with the opposing trainers on the screen. It's kinda unfortunate, but for the most part it isn't that big of a deal to me. However, I noticed I couldn't open Miiverse while the game was running. Are you saying THAT is also due to the old-school 3DS model?

  • @ Andy: Yeah, the old 3DS models aren't strong enough to run the game *and* Miiverse. The slower frame rate in double battles is a minor annoyance for me, but the first few times it happened I was mostly concerned my game might crash.

  • Huh. I was wondering how others were able to make 'Play Journal' entries for the game while I seemingly wasn't allowed. Makes sense tho.

  • Actually during Double Battles there's noticable lag on the New 3DS.
