Beaten, finally. Thanks to Aelamasca for posting how to do it. Thank you so much Aelamasca, and to David for his advice as well. And big thanks to my son for his help. Maybe you could help me with the fairune boss now?

  • This is so cute, they're bouncing on slimes as the credits roll. Slimes seem to be a popular monster in games. I wonder what game they first appeared in with faces. I only remember monster quest but there must be an earlier game.

  • Nice! I'm glad you were finally able to beat it!

  • As far as I can recall, the earliest game I personally remember seeing slimes with faces in, was the original Dragon Warrior for the NES. Never played it myself, I'm afraid, but yeah. Dunno if that was the first game slimes with faces appeared in, though. Congrats on finishing this game, by the way!

Thanks guys. Actually, my son did it for me. Lol, he's into the game now, he wants to beat it without the cheat. He was close. I'm starting another file because I want to try to beat it with the cheat. My son said it was still hard though so I'm not sure I can. My hands are getting bad. Sucks getting old.

@ Johnny TLP, Dragon warriors is by the same artist/creator as Dragonquest isn't it? I know the artist of Dragonball Z did the same art anyway. So I thought those games were connected? I've only got a couple of the games so I don't know if they're related in anyway.

  • @CAT: It might be, I don't know much about the franchise, aside from it being the origin of the whole "But thou must!" trope, and I literally know next to nothing about the Dragonball series. A fair number of manga and anime artists have worked on JRPGs over the years, though, so it's not that far-fetched of a concept.

Oh well, I just wondered because some of the monsters looked simular. Someone just told me that they're part of the same series and the monsters are more or less the same. The only thing I got about the games was that in dragon warriors, the monsters battle for you. I don't know much about these games myself. I've only played a bit of dragon quest 8 myself.

  • I think 'Dragon Quest' is just the english name for the 'Dragon Warrior' series. And Akira Toriyama, creator of Dragonball, also did the art for that series. No idea about this game though..

Ah, thanks David. I can never remember his name. Yeah,I knew he was the artist, loved his dragonball series but was never able to get into the games because of cost. DQ8 had tons of copies floating around so I got it cheap. As for witch & hero, he didn't do the art. It's just the slimes made me curious. They seem to be a popular monster to use in games.

  • If you ever want another great game that he was the artist for, Chrono Trigger is even better imo. You can get a copy for the DS cheap on Ama zon (last time I looked).

Oh, that's hard to find in stores. I can't buy online except E-shop, unfortunately. I'll check it out and see if it's something I'd like, maybe I could get my game store to special order it. They were able to get an old playstation Harvestmoon game and it's strategy guide from online for me.

I hope so but I'll wait awhile. There's some games I've been wanting and I still need to get the new Harvestmoon game as well.
