Is there anyway to get old Pokemon?

Pokemon Sun/Moon is my first Pokemon game and i got it for my kids and myself so we can play together. Their fave Pokemons are Ponyta and Squirtle. Is there anyway to get these Pokemon in Sun/Moon?

    Not yet. In January, Pokemon Bank will update to allow people to transfer Pokemon only available in older games from X, Y, Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire, Red, Blue, or Yellow into Sun/Moon. Even if you don't have Pokemon Bank or any of those older games, you can still possibly get those pokemon through online trades once people start moving those pokemon over in January
