I classed Gladion as a rival. Sadly, that seemed to fade away when you barely ever battle him ;( He seemed to be like a new Silver... but no. He's a random dude who battles who when in a rage and worked for an evil team. I miss the good Rivals... (Cheren, Bianca, Hugh and Silver) Although Hau is cool!

You rarely ever fought the gen 6 rivals yet they are considered rivals so I don't see why Gladion can't be considered a rival.
