  • Honestly, everytime I see or hear the words "lost in thought(s)", I always add the "all alone". Fire Emblem Fates has made a mess of me ;)

  • @ JohnnyTLP This is a technically a Fire Emblem post, I have a question. Have you ever played an FE game on Hard mode?

    Yeahs0
  • @Noah: Played yes, completed no. I played several chapters into Eliwood Hard Mode in Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade before stopping. Not so much because I couldn't progress, but because I wasn't having any fun with the increased difficulty (of course, there's no way to prove that claim either).

  • @ JohnnyTLP I'm leaning towards replaying Awakening and/or Birthright on Hard mode. I particularly want to fix the several mistakes I made in Awakening, but I'm worried about the difficulty/weapons sucking the fun out of it. What do you think?

  • @Noah: Now that I think about it, I did play the first two chapters of Awakening on Hard Mode on a whim at some point, I guess I forgot. Personally, I didn't have much trouble, and I made the terrible decision of not using Frederick too. I'd say go for it. Worst case scenario is you have to do some level-farming, but it's ultimately up to you and what you think you can handle.

  • @ JohnnyTLP I figured that some level-farming is allowed in Hard mode, but I'm worried that it isn't unlimited. Also, why wouldn't you use Fredrick in the early game. He is the definition of a character that is useful at the start yet useless at the end.

    Yeahs0
  • @Noah: Because, at the time, I subscribed to the woefully inaccurate opinion that Jagens and Oifeys are horrible units. Present day, I'm aware they're often the best units in any given Fire Emblem title. I assume level-farming is infinitely allowed in Awakening and Fates, though I'm fairly confident that Reeking Boxes cost more in the former the higher the difficulty level is.

  • Also, I would argue that Frederick is still good by the end of the game (as all Oifeys are). Even if one were to only level him to 20 and never reclass, if my math is right, his average stats would still be HP: 48, Str: 25, Mag: 3, Skl: 22, Spd: 19, Lck: 13, Def: 24, Res: 3, Mov: 7, which is hardly useless.

  • @ JohnnyTLP I could be wrong, but my experience in Awakening was that Speed was the key in the endgame. Frederick couldn't attack most enemies twice so his offense was crippled compared to my speedier units.

  • @Noah: I dunno. I'm not familiar enough with Awakening to comment on what stats are most vital by endgame, personally. Thankfully offense isn't everything.
