The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

I just received this today with the Ganondorf amiibo. This and other amiibo equipment cannot be added to the Hyrule Compendium, so don't worry about not being able to complete it. I probably won't use it in battle, but I will put it on display in my house at Hateno Village.

  • Wow! I didn't think the Ganondorf amiibo would give you that! Now I'm glad I have one!

  • Is the Hyrule Compendium like the Collectopedia from Xenoblade Chronicles? Does armor also get placed in the Compendium? Does this mean that by the game's internal standards, none of the amiibo items, weapons, and armor are needed for 100%?

  • Something like that, Elzo. You can take a picture of something and it is registered in the compendium. You can then set it with the Sheikah Sensor to track any more that are nearby. The things that can be registered are animals and insects of the wild, cooking ingredients (not all of them though), weapons, and monsters.

  • Oh, and shields too.

  • I've never played Xenoblade, so I can't comment on that. Weapons go in the Compendium, except for amiibo weapons. Armor does not go in the Compendium. No amiibo exclusive items go in the Compendium.

  • I've never played Xenoblade either, but I saw enough of a Let's Play some years ago to know that there is a very thorough (and somewhat convoluted) menu in the game that keep track of what you've collected and done, and writes to your overall percentage. I had a feeling BotW would have one, and I'm glad it does.

  • And I'm overjoyed that I don't have to waste money on a bunch of useless (to me) amiibo for 100%. Thanks, guys!

  • For the collectopaedia, you need to actually place an item in there, removing it from your inventory. This is more along the lines of WW's Nintendo Gallery, but more streamlined (no more turning the photos in some place), no missables (as there's a way to get photos should you miss them), and a slightly different focus.

  • Ah yes, I forgot about that detail. Well, this sounds like a very fun sidequest. Can't wait to get started!
