  • ...between nostalgia for the fans and accessibility to newcomers TFA. Handled well in that regard I think. Just a little safe maybe, interested to see where episode 8 goes. Do you know Guillermo Del Toro is in it now too? The whole PT gang are reunited!

  • I didn't even notice that, but Mii's have been absent, haven't they? Maybe Nintendo plans on leaving them in the era of the Wii branding. Haven't seen TFA yet. I have finals this week, and then Christmas with family and such. I hope to see it next week, though. I've heard nothing but good about the film.

  • Whoops, I meant Rouge One, not TFA... I watched TFA again recently as well. I really like the movie, but like you guys pointed out it borrows a lot from A New Hope. I feel like it was a good build up to the next movie. Didn't do a whole lot for itself, though, besides get people back in the SW universe.

  • Could be wrong as they're still in the mobile games but yeah, not been used in the Switch marketing. It's great even despite ultimately knowing how it ends, really likable cast as well. In particular the new droid! At the very least it's easily the best prequel, but stands up with the series highlights in general.

  • I think TFA almost serves as a reboot in a way, similar to the new Star Trek films. It's very good, familiar to long term fans but does seem more aimed at newcomers. You could watch it on its own with no knowledge of the previous ones and still enjoy it but there's stuff there for those into the franchise. Best of luck with the finals btw!

  • Hello again, I am a bit delayed with a reply here again, lol. That's awesome that you've got so far in the game David. I am still only on the 2nd island lol, but having fun with the game when I get a chance to play. :) I have Sun, and sure, we could do some trades sometime, that sounds awesome. :) I am pretty bad at online battles myself though to be honest, lol. Also, hey again Rau!

  • That's good, really looking forward to seeing it. Yeah, TFA was definitely a reboot at heart. I hope they go all out with the next one. Honestly, that's kinda why I was looking forward to the spin-off SW films, as they should be more unique. Thanks, feeling good about most of them. Honestly just ready for a holiday, however short.

  • @Manda Ha, you're alright! Glad you're enjoying Sun, must admit didn't think I'd get as far as I did so quickly but I have a reasonably solid squad so somehow managed. Still lots to do and loads to catch! I'm not much better online so you'll be fine, will make a play journal or something to sort out when/how if ya like.

  • Hullo Manda! Don't worry, David stocks up on Gengar. Bring either a ground, dark, psychic or even a matching ghost type on the sly and take that gengar out. Don't tell him I told you this. My finals just finished Matt, I feel your need for a Holiday. You must feel like butter.. scraped over too much bread. Why are you considering a ps4 before switch matt?

  • @Matthew you'll like it I'm sure! Yeah, I kinda think it's a smart way to juggle both fanbases really. You've got the spin-offs for the old fans and the new ones for them too but also newcomers. They can go anywhere really whereas the spin-offs fill in the gaps. Like the Han Solo one is next I believe, already cast him and Donald Glover from the comedy show Community is Lando apparently.

  • @Rau Not a bad analogy. At least my finals are before the holidays and not after, though. I know people who spend the whole break studying! The Last Gaurdian, mainly. I have a small list of PS4 games I'd like to play. I was originally waiting for the slim, but now I'm waiting to see what Nintendo's doing with the Switch. Also thinking about the fact that a Switch would be more convenient for a

I don't think Rebels is as good a show as The Clone Wars, but Disney certainly did a better job with the movies than Lucas ever would have, and we're getting better SW video games.

  • @Rau should've stuck that in spoilers dude! @Matthew Disney seem to know what they're doing. Yeah, the games are improving for sure, very excited for the one Visceral are working on as they have Amy Henning (Uncharted series etc) on writing duty and Battlefront 2 is apparently going to have a proper story mode this time.

  • Hmm, seems the Switch may have quite a difference in performance when docked and in handheld form...doesn't bode well for third parties if true. Know it's just a rumour of course but EG's sources were obviously spot on before... http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2016-nintendo-switch-spec-analysis

  • I'd heard about that as well, I'm more interested in "Battlefield 2" 2 than I was in the "first". Not disappointed or surprised, tbh. I figured battery and temperatures would be an issue with the portable Switch. At the same time, the portable Switch is more capable than the Wii U is, which still demonstrates a leap in technology, especially if one thinks of the Switch as a 3DS successor instead

  • of a home console. Unfortunate to see they may not be using Nvidia's Pascal architecture, though, although the Switch has been in development so long and the Pascal video cards are so new I doubt they had time to integrate the new architecture in.

  • I find it a little disappointing (if true) as it looked like they'd learned some lessons but this could potentially be the old modern day Nintendo two steps forward one back thing. If it doesn't sell well early on and it's seemingly now more of a faff to develop for support will dry up. The saving grace this time is like you say the platforms (potentially) being unified so previously 3DS games...

  • ...will appear on it. But still with them not being the most prolific or timely it still might not be enough. Hoping this isn't accurate as I'd hate to see them repeat the WiiU levels of low attach rate.

    Yeahs0
  • I guess wether people are impressed or not depends on how they look at the system. From a handheld perspective the balance of power, power consumption, and temperature seems impressive, but then as a console where the latter two don't matter then it falls short. I hope it's not too complex to develop for, that could be bad.

  • Just got back from a Christmas gathering. And, I finally bought my new PC today. I'll be getting it next week. In the meantime, I'll be playing Dragon Quest Builders (still) and Doom. I'll be getting the collector's edition of The Last Guardian in the mail too.
