    I've been playing this on NES Classic. I think I still have muscle memory as a kid playing this. I can get through the first play thru and then up to the second to last level on the second play thru. For the life of me can't beat it. Still trying.

    Good to know for the future, problem was I was already down to 3 seconds there. I can't imagine getting as far as you without modern suspend points. about every other time I attempt a directional jump I either jump straight up instead or don't jump at all and walk off a ledge to my death lol

    Yeah, no way you had time to trigger it in your pic. This was the 2nd NES game I owned after SMB. I played it a ton. I definitely have nostalgia for it and I want so bad to beat it again. I did use a save state after the first play thru to save time. But none during the levels! The blue caves killed me as a kid but now it's the second to last level. I've probably tried 50+ times now!

    How does the games glitching not affect you? lol I constantly need to use restore points. But yes very nostalgic for me too, although I've never come close to beating. Actually at the time of the pick that was the farthest I've made it... Currently I'm at the beginning of the blue caves that you mentioned.

    What kind of glitches? Like the screen flickering? I'm not sure what you mean. The cheap deaths drive me crazy, like when a ghost spawns right where you are moving to. If you want I can tell you where there is hidden armor in that blue cave level. That's a really tough one.

    So after posting that I went and tried to beat the level I'm stuck on. I kept track, 42 failed attempts, lol. Made it to the final boss 4 times, never made it to the second boss once. One of those 2 bosses waiting for you deals. I know I can do it, it's just putting it all together in one run.

    So I watched a youtube video of the last level cause I'm kinda stuck there and didnt see one time what I'm experiencing. It's almost like my game overwhelms itself. Wish I could just post a video on miiverse. Like as I'm running along my character will just stop moving, if I try to jump in a direction I'm just jump straight up instead of forward... It's really weird, like what games use to do in

    So, I just beat the game... Well my first play through anyway, we how that goes. Anyways I started my second play through and really no problems. Then I just completely started a new game over and made it back to where that time bonus is you told me about and really only had a couple bad jumps that didn't jump forward just straight up (and yes I'm pushing over on the d pad when this happens lol).

    Anyhow not anything like I experienced during the first play through. It was a weird and frustrating experience though lol. For lack of a better word, I'd call the game play choppy. Anyway happy to get through it for the first time ever, fond childhood memories with this game.

    Ok, no I haven't really experienced that. There have been times when my character jumps at an arc when I'm expecting him to jump straight up but it's usually during boss fights so probably on me. I wonder if it's a VC issue? Isn't it funny how the last boss is incredibly easy? Did you try to beat the game with the knife like I did?

    Yeah as hard as the game was, I thought he'd be harder. I used the knife for 98% of the game, read if you don't use the cross you start over in stage 5. So I ran back and grabbed the cross just before facing the 2 Satans, by the time I got to them I was down to 50 seconds wasn't sure that would be enough time but it was. Surprised they are so much easier than the little guys like them
