  • Shiny charm increases the odds of getting a shiny by any method

  • but how do you get the shiny charm?

  • You can use the Masuda Method (one foreign language parent + one local parent). The shiny charm is also an option and can stack with the Masuda Method. Both methods are still random chance, though. Just an increased chance.

  • You can also do the Masuda Method, which is where you breed two pokemon from different countries. Normal breding chance: 1/4096 Shiny charm chance: 1/1365 Masuda Method Chance: 1/683 Masuda Method and shiny charm chance: 1/512 So even though the odds are boosted, it could still potentially take hours or even days of breeding.

  • ok so if i had foreign vulpix and my own ditto would the chances low of getting a shiny? but if i had the shiny charm using the other method would they be better?

  • Your best chances would be the foreign vulpix + your ditto + shiny charm, yeah. And yes, you have to catch all 300 pokemon. Magearna isn't needed. It took me a few days with mostly using the GTS to complete it, but it's way better than last gen, where you had to get over 700 pokemon.
