One thing that sucks about the Poke Bank's one-way trades...

is that it's going to prevent us from taking advantage of the more efficient level grinding sources in the gen VI games. If we could trade back and forth between both gens, we could send the non gen VII pokemon to the gen VI games, level them up there and then send them back. Alas, all we have are the buffet and the Elite Four.

  • Bewear isn't a very common pokemon though, so its not exactly a quick method of leveling up.

  • I'd imagine that would be at least part of the reason. The other part - and perhaps the more important one - is so that you don't accidentally erase the effects of Hyper Training. Hyper Training just sets flags to treat a stat as having 31 IVs (so you can still, say, use the same Hidden Power type), and those flags wouldn't exist in XY/ORAS.

  • I still think they should have quit after making oras now i gotta get pokemonbank

  • Barring the Poke Bank, Sun and Moon are very isolated right now.

  • If you can beat me in a double battle no restrictions on oras il give you a shiny rayquaza

  • Bewear doesn't call for help very often, I tried chaining it, 26 consecutive turns of no ally, before I gave up, it was quicker to just take out every random wild encounter

  • A (probably) better way of chaining for EXP would be Riolu in Poni Meadow. Level 52-55, summons similarly-leveled Riolu, Lucario, and Chansey(!!).

  • Sad thing is, even gen V, which introduced this awful exp system, had better level grinding locations.

  • The exp system is great for in game, makes it more challenging, but it doesn't work on the competitive side, if they were going to use it they should've given a post game high lv grinding option like other games with this style of exp system, like xenoblade

  • Well It would not work if your pokemon that you put into it are from sun and moon. They don't exist in X and Y

  • Which is why I said in my post that you should at least have been able to trade non-gen VII pokemon.

  • Poni Gauntlet in general is a good place to grind. There's also Morimoto at Heahea City, who can be rematched once a day.

  • I do fight the GF director daily. His pokemon do give decent exp. If there only were more people like him.

Back in Gold/Silver/Crystal you could trade any of the original 151 Pokemon back to Red/Blue/Yellow through the Time Capsule Link Trade, as long as they didn't know any moves introduced in Johto. I don't get why older Generations couldn't have the backwards trading.

    Yeahs0

  • Well, I believe you couldn't do trades between gens I and II and the gen III games because of technical issues between the Gameboy line and the Gameboy Advance line

Excluding that, I mean 4th Gen trading back to 3rd Gen, and 5th Gen trading back to 4th Gen. Although 6th Gen to 5th Gen probably wouldn't work because Pokemon Bank/Transporter just barely prevented the whole GBC-GBA dilemma.

  • if poke bank could trade between gen VI and gen VII we would have the same problem as the time capsule in gen 2
