    I think he died because he was playing and he was so close to the game he was playing, it melted him to death. And I think down and B are hilighted on the pro controller because those were the last minutes the little kid pressed before his skin melted to death.

    I have another reason why the little kid died: On sunken scroll number 10, They are saying that when the sea levels rised up all humans died. So maybe while the little kid was playing, the sea levels rised up and probably him AND his parents drowned in the water and which killed all humans and animals in the Splatoon world.
