Sonic Boom:Fire & Ice

Ok... This is the 2nd time I've seen something like this happen. I just want to ask. If sonic boom is based in a different universe than modern sonic. How does boom Sonic know about mushroom hill? I saw something like this on a sonic boom episode. (can't remember the name... XD) That sonic & Knuckles were playing coconut hurl and they mentioned knuckles living on Angle island. XD
