  • "are you sure you want to come back to work so soon, skye?" Believe me, I've been itching to get back to the museum! You don't know how much I missed this place. I know my staff can manage well enough without me, but I really want to get my paws dirty with some … Ah! It's in! Oh, this is perfect timing! "what is?" It's something I wanted to show you, Coco. One pottery enthusiast to another.

  • "the porcelain statue? oh, it's lovely." It's on loan from a sister museum in Spain. I was worried I'd have to bring her into our ceramics lab, but I can already tell they did a great job on the restoration! 'wow, those walls are really thick! it must have been very difficult to fire, especially at that size.' Right. It's a little … too thick for statuary, isn't it? "what do you mean?"

  • I mean, obviously it's decorative. That floral pattern enameled on the chest, those gold accents … Yet beside those, the construction is more similar to a ewer than a statue. There was also apparently a lot of mould inside when it was found. The spanish museum thought rainwater might have seeped inside, but … "rainwater? it was outside?" Not exactly. That's the first big mystery of this object.

  • "other than the shape and size being completely impractical for a water jug?" Okay, second big mystery: It was found near Valencia, in a small cave. "a cave? okay, i can see why you'd need a ewer in there, but …" There were no other handmade artefacts, no signs of habitation, just … this. A 14th-century porcelain statue, clearly made in India, all alone in a cave. Quite the mystery, isn't it?

  • "… there's an enchanment on it." Oh? How can you tell? "i can't use magic in this body, but i still have the sense. it's very faint, but it's there." Wow, I should really bring you in more often, Coco!. "or you could hire me. just a thought." I don't know, would hiring my girlfriend be a conflict of interest? Okay, let's call that mystery three. They just keep adding up, don't they? … Coco?

  • "this craze pattern around her joints. it looks … warped." Ah, I see you've noticed the second … erm, fourth? Last big mystery. Right. "that shouldn't happen. the crazing should be even across the surface, but … i've never seen anything like this before!" I have. "huh? where would you see a pattern like that?" Not the same pattern, exactly. But …

  • Well, that's the main reason I wanted you to see it, actually. "m-me? but I don't …" Bend your arm. "huh? oh, okay. is this good?" That's perfect. You see, Coco, you can move your body effortlessly. But you don't actually have any joints to bend! It's like … you only have an elbow out of force of habit. "oh? i never really tried bending it any other ways. maybe i just took my arm for granted."

  • "wow, i should see how flexible i really am. i never thought i'd have a reason to try yoga, but …" Oh, maybe you can join my class. It's women only, bu… s-so you'll fit right in! Ahem. That's not my point, though. To anyone else, it's like your arm was fired that way. If I tried straightening your arm without you, I'd probably just break it off instead. "… maybe yoga isn't such a good idea, then."

  • We can talk about yoga later, Coco. My point is that your terracotta is somehow able to deform smoothly under your will, while remaining rock hard to anyone else. I suspect that if you were fired with a glaze, we'd see the cracks and patterns of it shift and warp just like the statue's! "what? y-you think this statue … it's a gyroid too!?" I don't know. But you said yourself it was enchanted.

  • "yes, but … it's the wrong time period, the wrong location, the wrong style of sculpting …" Your body wasn't made in Kofun-era Japan either, Coco. Well, maybe it's something similar. It would still explain a lot … "like how it ended up in a cave?" Yeah, it would just have to … walk in. It makes too much sense! … You can tell me if I sound ridiculous … "no, i … i think you maybe be right, but …"

  • "i'm going to try talking to it." Talking? "i can talk to souls and spirits. it's one of the … very few benefits of being dead." Wow. So you can tell if that's … a person? Okay, saying that out load makes it really hard to believe. … [hello. are you awake? who are you?] … "i don't hear …" 'T-t-t-t…" Hah!? 'T-t-t-teeeee…'

  • '¿T-te gus-s-staría una t- t-t-taza de … t-té?'

  • … Wh-what was that? What did she say!? "i … don't know spanish. sorry …" … Is it … is she really a person!? "maybe she was at one point. i'm not so sure now." Well, one thing's clear: we need to get that enchantment restored! Do you … know any good witches? "… i think i should call my landlord." —————
