nice! How come you speak Japanese so well? TP and OoT are both my fav. Used to be only OoT, but the HD version of TP is so great that they share first place now.

The main way I learned Japanese is by watching a lot of series in Japanese with English subtitles, and playing games with Japanese audio and English text. It's a slow process, but after a while you start recognizing more and more words. For the writing, I learned hiragana and katakana by practicing the characters on the Wikipedia page over and over again. I found them relatively easy to learn.

I'm still at a beginners' level, though. (After all, I thought the word for bee was bachi instead of hachi) I just know some basic words and phrases, and read about some grammar rules online (luckily Japanese grammar is way more simple than that of most Germanic languages), and so whenever I learn a new word I can also use it in a simple sentence.

For kanji I downloaded an app called Kanji Study on my smartphone, made by Chase Colburn. It's on the Google Play Store for free. I've been practicing it a little bit over the past few months. I've put about 7 hours into the app, and I know about 60 of them at the moment. The app also has a great kanji search feature, which is great for if you run into a new kanji while reading a Japanese text.

I think watching TV in another language with subtitles is one of the best ways to learn a language. That's how I learned English as a kid. What series are you watching in Japanese? I tried searching for that app, but my phone doesn't have it. I have an app from Bravolol with some basic sentences. For grammar I use Tae Kim online and an Assimil book. I have 2 Kanji books, now all I need is time!

But how do you play games in Japanese with English texts? Are there Nintendo games that allow this? I also like Ohayou Beginners Japanese on the Wii U. For now it only lets you practice the two kana, but it will be updated with grammar and kanji.

I was a lot of anime series, and although there are tond of accents/ways of speaking in anime that people don't use in real life, it's still a great way to pick up words. I'd recommend Dragon Ball. Not only is it a really good series, its dialogue is pretty simple too, so you'll be able to pick things up faster.

Not all games have two voice tracks, but there are plenty of games that do have Japanese audio as an option. The Nintendo JRPG Tokyo Mirage Session even has Japanese voice acting as the only option. The first Xenoblade has it as an option, and Fire Emblem Awakening also has it as an option (although there isn't that much voice acting). Not many other Nintendo games have voice acting, but I can

name some 3rd party examples on Nintendo systems. Many 3D Sonic games, the Project X Zone games (Japanese audio only), Samurai Warriors games (Japanese audio only for some games), Bayonetta 1 and 2, Project Zero Maiden of Black Water, Ninja Gaiden 3 Razor's Edge, Rodea the Sky Soldier, the Bravely Default games, and many more.

Haha, I just noticed a typo. That first sentence should be "I watch a lot of anime series", not "was".

Usually when you go to the options menu there's a setting for the audio language.

Since I get one point for every ten rupees I spend, does that mean I need to spend 20000 rupees at Beedle's shop to get this?

It's Linebeck the Third! I knew he was in this game, but not what kind of role he would play.

In one of the first comments of this post I showed a screenshot of a doll that reminded me of Tingle, but here's an actual Tingle statue! Link/Aryll's Telescope from Wind Waker is on display too, at the right.

To play the flute, a drinking straw might help you. Tape it near the MIC hole. ;)

Haha, thanks for the tip! I have noticed I've become slightly better at getting the mic to pick up the sound, so perhaps there actually is an intended trick to it and I just suck at playing the flute, haha. XD
