'Now say "Galatea, awaken".' But you just did … 'It has to be you, Skye.' Huh? What's so special about … 'I believe I have earned the benefit of a doubt, yes?' Hah. Of course, Mr. Nook. Um… Galatea awaken! Was that good?

"Ah, dónde … ¡Jefe! ¡Jefe, me encontraste! ¿Te gustaria una taza de té?" Um … hello? Galatea, is that your name? "¡Si por supuesto! Mi verdadero nombre es Galatea. Lo sabes, Jefe." I … think that was a yes? Um, can you speak English, Galatea? "As ye wish! Are we to meet with Traders from England to-day? I will prepare my best Leaves for ye, if ye will it." Leaves? No, wait, hold on …

Okay, first of all … you're alive! You're really alive! You were just a statue when I found you … "Yes, my Heart leaps too, that ye have found me again, Master! Would ye like a Cup of Tea?" And sec… … M-Master!? "Would ye like me to address ye differently, Master?" 'I believe I can explain, Skye.'

What? Did you make a mistake resoting her enchantment, Mr. Nook? 'No, no. It was your wish that this statue's enchantment be returned to its original state, yes? And I have done so perfectly.' But even if she was a servant, her master would be long dead by now. I hope you didn't damage her memories … 'A golem must have a master if it is to function properly.' A … what?

"I fail to comprehend, Master. Why would ye be dead?" 'It was extremely well-made, obviously at great expense.' "Oh! Many thanks, Mr. Nook! Would ye like a Cup of Tea?" I just wanted to revive her, and hear her story. We could learn so much about the time she lived in, but … I don't want to be a … a slave owner! 'I am sorry to disappoint you, Skye, but that is not a person.'

'It is merely a magical automaton. Like a robot. No more sapient than your telephone, yes? While she has a simulation of intelligence and emotion, both exist only to serve your will. You forget this at your peril.' You're sure about that? But Coco … 'My father's mother was an expert in the field. And I have had much cause to study her writings in the past year or so. I am certain.'

Alright, I suppose I simply got my hopes up. I can call this a successful restoration at any rate. 'Yes, yes, it will make a fine exhibit! And I am willing to erase the enchantment entirely if it causes you any trouble.' No, I would prefer she remain able to answer questions. There should still be a lot to learn from her. Thank you very much, Mr. Nook. 'Your Bells are thanks enough, yes?'

Of course … 'I have two more notes. First, it will be compelled to obey any direct order from you that uses her true name. So unless you wish to risk commanding it by accident, you should primarily use a nickname when addressing it.' And second? 'If she ever fails to obey, destroy the handle on top of her head immediately.' Why? What would that do? 'That is her shem: the core of her being.'

Y-you're telling me how to kill her … 'It is not likely you'll need to, no. But I know better than most that a renegade golem is extremely dangerous. And as I have said, it is not truly alive in the first place.' I … guess you're right. Still, you're making it sound like I'm in danger. All she's done so far is offer people tea! "Would ye like …" Uh, not now. 'Forgive me. I must cover my bases.'

Okay. Let's go back to the museum, Gala… Uh, what should I call you? "I am oft addressed as Tia." Tia? That's cute, and a lot less of a mouthful. Tia it is! "I am empty, Master. I cannot make Tea without Water to boil! Shall I fill my Chest at our Destination?" Uh … if it makes you feel better. "'Twill! Thank you, Master!" Please don't call me Master …

I really hope I didn't mess up on the Spanish somewhere. Of course, I'm pretty sure I have readers who speak Spanish, so I'm sure they'd be willing correct me. There's no way I'd be able to check if it's appropriate for the 1500s, of course … As for Tom getting his pronouns confused, I don't think that even counts as a mistake. On my part, anyway.

It's all good, I can't find any problems (not my first language but I'm really sure it's all good). You made a Portuguese mistake on the Pavé bit back then, but I forgot to comment and forgot what it was, sorry. :/ I'm really happy your crisis is solved and your great stories continue, I was sad and worried.

Tia's accent when speaking English is a lot like how I write the lines for the main character of one of my stories. Said character is a little pirate girl, so the similarities in dialect make sense in those regards. Also, the idea of a tea-making elephant automaton is so adorable! I want one!

Mommy: Thanks a lot. I'm just glad I was able to finally work that joke in. Dumbo: Thank you for both the language check and the sympathy. It's really just a stopgap solution, but it's sufficient for writing and job hunting, and I'm just happy to be able to get back to work. And sad that I had to let you all down for a bit.

Tay: I was very much imitating Shakespearean writing in Tia's speech patterns, although it's a little bit after her time. Her habit of capitalizing Nouns is meant to invoke subtitles of Victorian books, and represents an archaic accent.

I went back and forth for a long time about whether Tia's design made more sense as a golem, like Stitches, or an animal with odd fashion sense, like Merengue. I ultimately decided the latter made for a better story, and it sounds like I was right from the feedback I've been getting so far. Obviously, I can't take credit for the character herself.
