I was too tired today to play much of anything so I decided to play Harvestmoon 64. Unfortunately there's no download or community that I know of for this game so I'm writing about my game here.     It was spring when I arrived in the village and the villagers were holding a wake in honor of my gradfather. They were drinking and telling stories, trying to give him a joyful send off. I liked that, like they wanted his spirit to be happy as it left us so he could rest peacefully knowing everyone cared for him. As they talked I overheard some concerns for the farm. ↓↓↓↓

    I greeted the mayor and then left to go and look at the farm. I guess gramps hadn't been able to work the farm much in the end because the fields were in bad shape, overrun with rocks and weeds. The buildings were still in good shape and I stared at the house while I became lost in thought. ↓↓↓↓↓

    My father, who had an importent job in the city, had finally gotten away from work and joined me on the farm. He asked if grandpa had already passed and I told him he had. We were silent as we watched the smoke rise into the sky and said our silent fairwells as his spirit went with the smoke into the heavens. ↓↓↓↓

    After we paid our silent respects my father left me there on the farm as he went to talk to the villagers and thank them for all they had done for grandfathers funeral. I was still thinking things through for I had a huge decision to make when I heard a bark and a young dog ran up to me. " Hello boy " I said to him. I wondered if he had been gramps dog. Then and there my mind was made up. ↓↓↓↓

    I knew what I had to do." " Are you sure? " My father asked me when I told him my plans. Then he told me to do what I thought was right. As he was getting ready to leave he asked if gramps had said anything in the end.

    I turned and looked to the heavens where I felt gramps was watching me and I thought to myself that yes, in my heart he asked me to make his farm thrive again and to have a happy life living there. That's all for now but I'll write more soon. I need to play the first day now. I'll post about it later.

    No, it isn't. As with all harvestmoon games, it takes elements and characters from the previous games but it is completely different from those games. I believe it was the super harvestmoon which is closer to the gameboy versions. This version is still considered one of the best in this franchise and many people still have fond memories of playing this game. Me too. This is my first HM game ever.

    This is the game that they based the friends of mineral games off of for gameboy advance or maybe it's the Back to nature for plastation? And Back to nature is based off of HM64? I'm not sure of the chronological order between those games. You know, I think I read about how HM64 was how the creator originally wanted the games to be like. I might be wrong about that though.

    Anyhoo, I'm going to continue the story for a little bit here. I started my first day bright and early.I set too thinking of a new name for the farm and decided upon URDA. A type of cheese I believe and it sounded earthy, perfect for a farm I thought. I came up with a name for the dog as well, Joty seemed a lively name for him. At least it was better than " Hey boy." ↓↓↓

    Just so you know, you're right about everything you said a few posts above. 64 came first in February 1999, after which Back to Nature reused a lot of its assets in December 1999, and Friends of Mineral Town is basically a remake of Back to Nature released in April 2003. I've always heard that Harvest Moon 64 was the closest game to Yasuhiro Wada's original concept for the series as...

    ...well, though I've never been able to find any interviews confirming that myself, unfortunately. As a spot of trivia, though, he has said A Wonderful Life is his favorite game in the series on several occasions. Anyway, my waffling aside (sorry if you already knew most of that), Harvest Moon 64, easily one of my favorite games in the series. Looking forward to reading your posts about it!

    @ Johnny TLP, Thanks! I couldn't remember if the advance games were based off HM 64 or the Back to nature. So Back to nature was before the advance games, I thought so. That's a cool tidbit though, I'm not suprised though because I thought that was a really good game as well. Thanks for reading and hope you'll enjoy the rest. :)
